At A.L. Horton Elementary School, everyone works together to provide students entrusted to our care with a safe, nurturing, positive environment -where each child is encouraged to work to achieve his/her personal best. By offering our students a variety of programs, we strive to educate "the whole child" so that each can realize his/her potential intellectually, physically, socially, psychologically, and spiritually.

Welcome to A. L. Horton School!

On behalf of all the staff at A. L. Horton Elementary, I would like to welcome all of our school families to the 2008-2009 school year!  We hope that you will find our website a helpful tool in learning about our school and its programs.

As we enter year three of our school education plan, our focus will continue to be on high quality programs, literacy, and character education.  This year staff will be implementing a new Mathematics program in kindergarten and in grades 1 & 4.  In addition, students in Gr. 6 will be receiving a new Social Studies program.  Finally, kindergarten students will receive new report cards this year.

In addition to our strong academic core program, our school has French as a Second Language in Gr. 4-6 and Ukrainian Bilingual instruction in Gr. 1-6.  As well, students in Gr. 5 and 6 receive band instruction while students in Gr. 4 have the opportunity to learn hand chimes.

Our staff continues to work diligently to provide high quality programs for all of our students.  We look forward to the continued support of the A.L. Horton School Council, Friends of A.L. Horton School Society, and parents/guardians to further enhance student learning experiences at A. L. Horton this school year.
