Principal's Message

Welcome to A.L. Horton!

On behalf of the staff at A.L. Horton Elementary, welcome to the 2021-2022 school year. We look forward to working closely with students, families, and the community to engage and empower our young people in Kindergarten through Grade Six during their learning journey with us.

It is my honour to be A.L. Horton’s principal beginning this academic year. The school celebrated its 40th Anniversary just a short while ago, including the Ukrainian program, and there is a strong culture and sense of community at the school.

Our dedicated and talented staff members greatly value the collaboration that takes place between teachers, support staff, parents and caregivers, and community partners. We continue that important work together this year as we move forward with goals relating to literacy, numeracy, and parent engagement. We know that children are more successful when parents work closely with the classroom teacher. We’re proud that all staff here at the school are ready to find ways to help all students reach their potential.

Please take a few moments to peruse our school website and see all the important programs, events, staff members, and partnerships at A.L. Horton. You can follow the school on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to see highlights of learning and leadership taking place in classrooms and around the school each week. In addition, watch your email inbox for a link to the monthly school newsletter featuring photos of students at work and play, information from School Council and the Friends of A.L. Horton Society, celebrations, upcoming events, and student and adult learning opportunities.

If you have any questions, please call us at 780-632-3113 or email us at the school.

Let’s have a great year living “the ALH way” while learning the traits of our mascot, the cougar cub - strength, courage, leadership, and wisdom. Our journey begins here!
